Furnace Tune Up Checklist

At Quality West, we specialize in maintaining your heating and cooling equipment at optimal efficiency and performance. Our technicians use a 28 point checklist to ensure accuracy and avoid mistakes. Our thorough inspection will ensure that your furnace is well-maintained for the winter months. Below is our routine checklist used at every furnace tune up.

• 1. Adjust and program thermostat for current season
• 2. Inspect and change standard size filters
• 3. Visually inspect heat exchanger
• 4. Test for CO if defects are found in heat exchanger
• 5. Check blower motor amp draw and operation
• 6. Lubricate blower motor if applicable
• 7. Blower belt check if applicable
• 8. Inspect blower wheel
• 9. Clean burners and burner compartment
• 10. Check electrical connections
• 11. Inspect low voltage wiring
• 12. Test safety controls operation
• 13. Inspect all drain lines in high efficiency units
• 14. Clear condensate traps on high efficiency units
• 15. Clean pilot assembly and orifice
• 16. Check and adjust gas pressure
• 17. Cycle gas valve and check performance
• 18. Use OHM meter to test the hot surface igniter
• 19. Check capacitor
• 20. Check for proper combustion air
• 21. Clean & inspect flame proving sensor
• 22. Inspect temperature rise
• 23. Inspect flue piping
• 24. Check furnace for combustible gas leaks
• 25. Inspect the ductwork
• 26. Verify proper operation of system

• 28. Complete a written report for customer with system recommendations
